Jessica hated this.
She didn't feel like defining "this" as "this" was so much crap right now she didn't even know where to begin.
"Fine, fine," she muttered to herself, "What a fine mess you've gotten yourself into now stupid."
It had started hours earlier when one of the team leads had braved bothering her in her lab, obviously nervous as Jessica's cat Pinto watched him through uninterested feline eyes, a look Jessica mirrored exactly as he stammered out his request.
"Bob's sick you see..." he looked down quite a bit, not risking raising his eyes to meet her hazel ones, "And we need another Driver on the team, a scientist to collect his samples and he suggested you since you haven't driven in a month..."
"I haven't driven in a month because I'm busy analyzing my samples so that rich jerks back home can turn them into drugs and make people pay out the nose for them. So, sorry, busy."
The man kept stammering though, didn't take the dang hint. Fine, fine she said... and off she went... getting into her hated Avatar, a biological robot that made her skin crawl - her blue Na'vi hybrid skin crawl as the dull headache was back again. The one no one else could detect she had when she complained about it and they did scan after scan. Finally she quit complaining, they were starting to think she was crazy... Well, okay, she was. Anyway...
And got lost.
Well, not precisely. Jessica had an excellent sense of direction, she wasn't lost like some of the others would be lost. She wasn't going in circles at least. She had been left behind for some reason. Some reason she just couldn't wait to hear when they found her, or she figured her way back to base, and boy they had better find her before she found her way back as she wasn't just going to yell at them then. She was going to kill them. Go space mad and kill them all... and then continue with her research.
"So... yeah," she said to herself again as she watched the huge planet this moon orbited move through the sky as well as the star that was this solar system's sun. She was sitting on some roots looking up watching these movements as she was figuring out her exact position, plus if the fools were looking for her it was always better to stay put then move around and get more lost.
Then it occurred to her that maybe she should just 'wake up' and go yell at someone in her regular body since it was back at base... but this damn blue kitty skin was so expensive and the company would own her hide forever then...
Thus she sat, legs crossed on a big root as she watched the sky and finally closed her large yellow eyes and start to meditate...
Come to me... Come to me.... daughter...
