Night patrol... night patrol couldn't have been worse. Being placed to cover nearly a mile of area alone in the darkness was a job for the lowest of ranks in the Tsampongu tribe, since it was a duty no one wanted to do. But after a small battle with another tribe in attempts to take supplies, a few of the lower levels were lost to death. A stupid mistake to bring such low levels to such a large tribe, as Alyara had tried to warn, but of course no one had taken her advice. Hence it ended up as it did. And now it has been placed upon her to do Night Patrols around their camp.
Im too high of a rank for this... Its simply wasting my effort! She had tried to complain, but none of it did any good. Her superiors were threatening and she couldn't afford to be on their bad side. So she didn't have much of a choice...
Alyara scowled as she made her way into the forest with her bow in hand. Not only was it harder to see in the dark with the distractions of the glowing foliage, but also the creatures came out to hunt. She always had to be on watch for such dangerous things, as well as intruders and the filthy humans if they were to ever show up. She hadn't seen them this deep into the forest, but it was possible.
She walked just a few steps further and let the underbrush touch her long blue legs. This was the area she had to hide and pace until she could see the sunlight at dawn. It would be a long night considering the sun just set. She just hoped there would be something or someone to aim at during that time.
Slowly and quietly she started to pace the surroundings. Leaping into trees, staying hidden in low bushes, taking long stares into the distance for a sign of movement. But the only thing she saw was smoke in the far distance from human settlements. What a shame this beautiful world of Eywa's was being ruined. But not to worry. She and the Tsampongus were here to take it back. Even if-
A rustle in the leaves beneath a tree where she was sitting made her ears go up in alert. She raised her bow to aim; it sounded big. But she was ready for whatever was here...

There were only certain Pandoran plants that bloomed at night, one of them being the rare 'ìheyu'eyt which could be turned into the most amazingly rich red dye - something Tsanten was completely out of, and so was every other weaver in the tribe. Cursing his luck, Tsanten prepared for a long ride and an even longer night in the deep forest as finding the plant was no easy task. He set out at sunset astride a female pa'li, a pack on her rump with his sleeping bag, his harvesting tools, bags and last but not least his bow and knives. Not that he was all that great a hunter and he hoped he didn't need to use them, despite his mother's hopes, he was more of a weaver than a warrior. Thus he directed the pa'li through the forest, the two of them treading lightly, trying to keep as silent as the wind whispering through the leaves. Tsanten thankfully was one of the few in the clan that could still find the bloom, as he had been one of the few to learn from the crazy elder weaver who was known for his unstable temper. Tsanten had weathered the old female's moods and learned much from her, including how to find the 'ìheyu'eyt and turn it into its distinctive red dye. He followed the signs, but without realizing it he was traversing deeper and deeper into the forest... Finally he was close, he knew it, it had to be right... over... there... Suddenly the pa'li threw its head up and let out a panicked scream as a Thanator emerged from the glowing nighttime jungle, growling and looking at making the pa'li and its rider into its next meal. Tsanten was stunned at first, not knowing what to do, sending confused signals to his already scared mount, which made it buck sending the unfortunate weaver through the air. He landed in a heap, bumping his head as he looked up to blearily see the palulukan catch and start to eat his pa'li, destroying all of the stuff he had brought with him in the process as it was still on the ravaged pa'li. Trying to fight his head from spinning, he climbed up an nearby tree, getting into the higher branches as he finally sat down, hugging his long legs into his chest as he shivered in fear. Dear Eywa, what was he going to do now?

Alyara kneeled in her place at the tree and kept the bow aimed at the rustling bushes. She squinted to see, but realized she didn't need to when a large massed animal erupted from the underbrush. It leapt forward and a little off into the forest, as through it was attacking newly found pray. The cry of a pa'li was heard and she could just make out the creature rearing up and trying to escape - not a good attempt since it was caught merely second after. But something had flown off of that pa'li when it panicked. Something large... No, it couldn't have been a rider, could it have? What Na'vi would be silly enough to ride into this forest in the depths of night with a mount? Surely they weren't Tsampongu, he tribe wouldn't use a mount for night patrol.
'Well, at least there is a break in the quiet,' she thought. The attack was an interesting change of pace.
The lean and thin Na'vi woman leapt between trees to over where the thanator was devouring the pa'li. She was careful not to get too close. Then something caught her eye. Just in the outline of the bio-luminescent glow she spotted another na'vi. One frantically climbing a tree to get away from the beast devouring his mount. He was so close to Tsampongu borders. Did he know? She stared with her wide golden eyes to see the other na'vi better, but it was no use. The dark hid him well in the tree. Lucky for him since the thanator wandered off just a while later after not being able to find him. But there was every reason for him to return if he heard noise. Alyara would have to be quiet.
Another long leap lead her to a branch of the tree she saw the na'vi in. She landed behind him and quickly ran up to him, her bow aimed and nearly poking the back of his neck. His posture of hugging his legs and shaking gave away his fear. But no matter. She still didn't trust any strangers. "What are you doing here?" she spoke in a low whisper behind him, making sure he could hear a threat in her voice. "What is your name?"

Damn fool, you're a damn, damn fool Tsanten! He howled at himself mentally over and over again as he sat there, his teeth chattering in his head so loud that he wondered if the thanator would come back to eat him for dessert as everything in the damn jungle should be able to hear it! He rubbed his arms trying to steady his breathing, but nothing seemed to help in calming him down so he could think rationally, he was in a state of shock, that was until... He felt the arrow to his back as he went deathly still, not even daring to breath as someone had snuck up behind him. Oh Ewya, what had he done, stumbled into Tsampongu lands? He was well and truly screwed now. Oh Mother, you were right, I am a failure indeed. "What are you doing here? What is your name?"He was so scared he couldn't even tell what sex his assailant was, he just blurted out the first answers that came to mind: "T-tsanten is my name, I'm a weaver and I needed a rare bloom to make red dye - we were all out of it and I'm the only one who knows where it grows and it only blooms at night and..." he rambled on and on without stopping once for a breath...
